The Tiny Seed
Reception explored different types of seeds looking in particular at runner beans, sunflower seeds and cress seeds. They had a close look at each type of seed, comparing their size and discussing which they thought would grow the tallest. As a class they spoke about what a seed needs to grow and each child decided which of the three seeds they would like to plant. Next, the children used their phonics to write a label for their plant pot and planted their seeds. After 5 weeks of helping them grow and ensuring that they had everything they needed, the children were very proud of the progress and were ready to take them home.
