Through our involvement in the local school sports partnership, children will have the opportunity to participate in inter-school (level 2) competitions against other local schools. Information and photographs will be shared following each competition below.
Wow! What an achievement!
Recently, a large number of our Year 1 and 2 children took part in a dodgeball festival at St Joseph's Catholic High School. The played a number of group games as well as knockout games against children from 8 other Workington Primary and Infant schools and did very well indeed.
One team ended the event by winning the A final and our second team finished as runners up in the B final. For a small school like ours, this is a great achievement and we are immensely proud of all of the children, who took part in the event.
Well done everyone!
Some of our Year 3 and 4 children joined forces this afternoon to take part in the annual Benchball competition at St Joseph's. They worked really well as a team and showed great enthusiasm only narrowly missing out on the semi finals.
They played 4 fantastic games during the group stage, winning 3 and only just loosing 1 of their matches. This was the same as two other schools in our group, it was incredibly close. Unfortunately, with an overall points difference that was 2 points less than both Ashfield and Seaton, it meant that we did not progress into the semi finals. We did win our playoff game though, eventually finishing 5 over all out of the 9 teams involved. The eventual winners this time around were Beckstone.
Multi-skills competition at St. Josephs for Reception
During the summer term, the Reception children took part in a multi-skills competition along with 9 other schools. They participated in a range of activities which gave the children the opportunity to display skills which they had been taught throughout the year in PE. The activities included passing and throwing a ball, controlling tennis balls using hockey sticks, balancing balls on tennis rackets, moving along an agility ladder in different ways and participating in obstacles. The children were led by secondary children and followed instructions well.
