Andy Tooze - Poet Visit
On Tuesday 17th September, we had a fantastic day with Andy Tooze! We kickstarted the day with a whole-school assembly in which we performed lots of Andy’s poems using some creative and memorable actions. In this assembly, Andy introduced his brand new book that was only published on Monday 16th! Bobbie was the very first person to ever buy & own this book! 📕👏🏽
We then took part in workshops in our classrooms, covering a range of activities from orally rehearsing tongue twisters to writing our own poems. These sessions thoroughly enthused our children and offered a real purpose for learning; providing career aspirations for lots of our budding poets!
At the end of the day, we re-joined as a whole-school to celebrate our work and achievements of the day! Each class had the opportunity to perform and share their work collectively, with some individual children showing enormous bravery by standing up and performing their own poems to the rest of the school!
This has stood us in great stead for our upcoming, whole-school 'Poetry Slam'!
