Chinese New Year

 

Reception enjoyed learning about the Year of the dragon and looked at the details of China. They explored different Chinese artefacts and took part in lots of table top activities, which included identifying chinese numbers on the tuff tray and using chinese chop sticks to place the matching number of pom poms in to jars, creating dragon masks, adding pom poms to dragons and collaging lanterns. The children enjoyed listening to the stories of 'The Great Race' by E.Hiles and 'I Love Chinese New Year' by E.Wong Nava, which gave them more insight in to the Chinese New Year celebrations. At snack time the children cracked open fortune cookies to reveal their messages inside, they tasted delicious.
