Read, Write, Inc
We use the Read, Write, Inc phonics programme at Distington Community School to support children's reading development. The programme is taught daily to children in Reception and Year 1. It is also used to support children in other year groups who require additional support with their phonics development.

In addition to direct phonics teaching children are also exposed to phonics in the wider curriculum and environment. Teachers maximise opportunities to practice and apply children's phonics knowledge through a wide variety of activities.
