Whitehaven Fire Station Visit
Year 1 had an amazing visit from the Whitehaven Fire Station, enriching their topic of 'Where do I live?' by exploring 'local superheroes!'
Rob and his team discussed their role as firefighters and explained what their job entails. They showed the children all of their equipment, explaining how they use it and providing the children lots of opportunities to get involved! They discussed the fire triangle, fire safety and the importance of smoke alarms at home.
The visit was topped off with a tour of a fire engine and a chance to squirt one of the powerful firefighter hoses.
Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed this visit! We now have lots of aspiring year 1 fire-fighters!
