Pet Encounters
To begin our topic of minibeasts, we had a visit from Pet Encounters which gave us the opportunity to find out lots of information about different species of minibeasts. Reception were excited to be introduced to so many different creatures, which included stick insects, a praying mantis, a flower beetle and a very sleepy tarantula, which wanted to hide in it's nest. The children also came up close to a scorpion, explored the details of some minibeasts in resin and watched a chameleon eat his mealworms. In our small world area, the children also had the opportunity to find seven hidden minibeasts which made themselves comfortable in our classroom.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
