Year 6 SATs Information

The Year 6 National Curriculum Tests (SATs) will take place in May 2027.

SATs are national assessments taken by pupils at the end of Key Stage 2. They provide information about pupils' attainment in English and mathematics and help schools, secondary schools and the Department for Education understand how children are performing.

We understand that SATs can feel like an important time for children and families. At school, we will support pupils to prepare carefully while ensuring that their wellbeing remains our priority.

  • Paper 3 – Reasoning: 40 minutes

The mathematics tests cover the content of the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum.

How can parents and carers help?

There are lots of simple ways you can support your child:

  • Encourage your child to read regularly and talk about what they have read.

  • Practise times tables and key number facts.

  • Encourage your child to complete homework and any revision activities provided by school.

  • Help your child to get plenty of sleep.

  • Make sure your child has a good breakfast each morning.

  • Encourage your child and remind them that they do not need to worry about the tests.

  • Continue with normal family routines wherever possible.

Most importantly...

SATs are only one part of your child's primary school journey.

We want every child to feel happy, confident and supported. The children will be encouraged to try their best, but there is no need for children or families to put themselves under unnecessary pressure.

If you have any questions or concerns about the Year 6 SATs, please speak to your child's class teacher or contact the school office.

Good luck to all of our Year 6 pupils – we are incredibly proud of you! 🌟
